    Ruud Gas water heater
Ruud gas water heater model PVP 40-1. No hot water, burner not lit. Unplug and plug back in, burner then ignites and heats water. Thermocouple needs replacing or a bigger problem?

    Hi Sarge

I'm afraid it is a bigger issue than the thermocouple, and it is not something I can troubleshoot with you by chatting back and forth over days as these power vent heaters can be very tricky to troubleshoot, so you will definitely be best advised to contact the tech. support department at RUUD at 800-432-8373

Have your water heater's model number and serial number handy (on front rating plate at front center of the heater), and have an electrical tester handy. These guys should make quick work in determining the exact issue you have!

    Good luck!

    Mark

Was told control module had intermittent problem with voltage going to gas valve. Repair estimate was over $500. Since heater was 14 years old, bought new one. Thanks for your help.
