My doctor said that I have abscess in the ovaries and currently taking antibiotics to flush them out. I was told, "No sexual activity." Objects in the vagina could cause an infection, but stimulation of just the clitoris should be fine.
We all have bacteria on our skin all the time. The skin is actually a super barrier against infection, unless it gets in, such as through a cut or bug bite, no matter how tiny. It happened to me and to some other regulars here, so better safe than sorry. Nothing in your vagina for now.
