    Masturbation
    Is masturbation considered sexual activity?

By some people and in some places and in some contexts, yes.
    Others no.
If the rules of a college dorm say 'no sexual activity,' I'd guess that they don't include masturbation. If it's in the context of any given religion, you have to ask whoever is setting the rules.

If it's on a hospital discharge paper, given that you asked this under Health, I'd say it depends on not only what the doctor treated you for or operated on, but also on your gender and what you like to do when masturbating.
Ask us if you want to know specifics about something like post surgery. We might know, or you might have to call the doctor's office.

My doctor said that I have abscess in the ovaries and currently taking antibiotics to flush them out. I was told, "No sexual activity." I wanted to ask if masturbation is okay, but felt too awkward and embarrassed to even ask. So, now I am anonymously asking any experts here if masturbation is considered a sexual activity. Please help. I appreciate the response and thank you in advance.

Yes, in that context, it is considered sexual activity. Any method. Clitorial stimulation, but most definitely not dildo penetration.

In that context, no it isn't. But I would confirm it with your physician.

Objects in the vagina could cause an infection, but stimulation of just the clitoris should be fine.
We all have bacteria on our skin all the time. The skin is actually a super barrier against infection, unless it gets in, such as through a cut or bug bite, no matter how tiny. It happened to me and to some other regulars here, so better safe than sorry. Nothing in your vagina for now.

I guess she was shy about asking her physician this question. Absolutely nothing inside the vagina. Some women do both at once, is basically what I meant. I didnt want to spell it out.

You should always ask the doctor, everything, nothing shocks them. Masturbation is a normal activity, almost everyone does.

You didn't really read the question or the replies, did you? In the context that she was asking, no, it is not.
