Carrier 58STA/STX -- No Heat water in pan
Hi All we just moved into our home Jan of this year. Our furnace/air conditioner is about10 years old and has been serviced for air condition this summer. well since its gotten colder we switched our 2nd level unit over to heat and waited for it to come on. it clicks but nothing happens. We took a trip to the attic and we have two units one for upstairs and one for downstairs. Downstairs is working perfectly. The 2nd floor unit is not the pan at the bottom of the unit is filled with water, and we do not know what to do next. We are novices so speak to us in layman terms. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Clear the drain line. The override safety has turned the unit off. Use a cup and sponge to get started. Unit should come on. See a small float switch in the pan?

Thank you soooo much. Ok I will try that in the morning. Where's the float switch located? I will look for it.

Should be in the pan, has a small float on it , look for something with 2 wires coming from it going to the control board. Normally open and closes when water fills the pan, keeps water from flooding down through the ceiling. Fairly typical event when switch is tripped, no air or heat.

Ok once I locate it then what do I do? Does this mean that the pipe that goes out side is clogged?

Probably. Go outside and look, a lot of times they get clogged with spider webs or mud dauber tubes.
