Will I pass my ETG test?
Male, 32yo, 94.5kg. Starting at ~5pm Saturday, drank the following (in this order): 3 shots of tequila, 4 gin & tonic, 3 beers; last beer was around 130am Sunday.

I have an ETG test today; I'm waiting until the last minute to go, which is 8pm. Do you think I'll pass?

10 drinks at about 66 hours from last drink until test? You are probably in the clear based on your size, rate of consumption. Did you eat anything in that period and how tall are you.

Hors d'oeuvres while the tequila, gin & tonic were consumed, then dinner afterward. Ate a light breakfast Sunday, no lunch Sunday, and average dinner Sunday.

    5ft8in.

    Thanks so much.

The food, even the hors d'oeuvres, was helpful. That delays absorption and results in gastric metabolism meaning the liver isn't involved (where EtG is created). Food also increases liver metabolism so the meal afterwards is helpful.

As noted above, EtG will probably be absent at that time span and the food is an additive.

Any amount above 8 drinks is fuzzy because of the lack of reliable research. The vast majority has been conducted in detox units on chronic alcoholics, an unrepresentative population. My experience is that 60 hours is almost a fail-safe point, but that is anecdotal.

Can you tell me what cut-off value you're assuming for the test?

Also, if my creatinine is low (suggesting I've been chugging water all day - which I have), would they adjust the EtG value so that it reflects what would be a normal creatinine?

My figures are based on 100ng because the studies are mostly dose and time measured.

There is no need to continue excessive water consumption. Certainly stop at least 3-5 hours before test. EtG is not diluted so much as washed out.

Whether the lab uses a creatinine normalization varies. In the US most don't (even though it's recommended). But I noticed you expressed your weight in kg... where are you located?

Also, EtG tests are in two phases, immunoassay IA and confirmatory. The only way it gets to confirmation is by positive at IA. Unless it is confirmed there is no method for normalizing a negative.

I'm in the USA. I figured your formula or reference source(s) would use kg instead of lb.

Is there anything I can do at this point to accelerate the washing-out of EtG?

    Thanks again.

Not that you haven't done. Remember that EtG is created only during the metabolism of alcohol. Once the alcohol is gone EtG synthesis stops. Don't think of it in the same sense as many drugs that may still be circulating or appearing from stored deposits. It follows the same overall pattern as alcohol, continual steady rate elimination. The fluid accelerated the elimination from blood, a much shorter period, and deposited in urine where the fluid created increased urination thereby eliminating the EtG from your system. It doesn't return. No way to create more without drinking ethanol.

Thank you so much. I'll still be anxious, but you've provided some good information.

You seem very knowledgeable; may I ask your motivation for answering questions here?

I worked for years in addiction, currently administer program and am very interested in current state of drug testing and this test in particular. Don't believe you can find this information anywhere else.

FYI - test came back negative. There's some question in my mind as to whether they test for EtG or Ethanol, as EtG isn't listed on the company's website anywhere. Nonetheless, I'll be abstaining for the remainder of my program.

    Thanks for reporting your results.

If the sample was sent to a lab it was in all likelihood EtG as there are numerous ways to test for EtOH on site and get instant results.

At any rate glad to hear that you are in the clear and chosen the safest future path.
