    Do sump pumps really work for a basement bathroom
    We have had 2 grinder pumps fail in 3 years. Is it not realistic to have a basement bathroom?

    What brand of ejector system do you have? What was the reason the pumps went bad? Got to be a reason. Back to you, Tom

    Please answer Toms questions. A correctly sized sewer ejector pump that is plumbed correctly should last years and years under "normal" loads. Please let us know more and we will see what we can come up with.

    You really shouldn't need a grinder pump in a residential setting, but you will need much more than a sump pump. A sewer ejector pump, as I mentioned, should work well for years under normal conditions.

    We bought a Liberty pump in October 2010 and when that malfunctioned, the plumber couldn't get it to work, so he replaced it with a Zoeller pump, model series 200(?). That was in July, 2011. We keep finding that it won't shut off and the motor is hot and the sewage is approaching the top of the reservoir. Luckily, we've always caught it before it has flooded. When the plumber comes, he claims it's working fine and cannot duplicate the problem. Now, we're thinking the Unicheck pipe is clogged. It's obvious, the plumber really hates coming to our house.
