Why can't I control my own thoughts?
I know this may sound weird, but I just really can't. My thoughts take me often to places I don't want to be... or show me things I don't want to see. Does any one have any idea why?

Simple meditation will help you begin to control your thoughts. I recommend the simple Zen technique of counting breaths. There are various sites that can help.

    Peace...

There are a variety of meditation techniques, dependent on the branch of Buddhism. The "counting breaths" meditation is a common Zen technique that I have used. It's very simple:

    1. sit in a relaxed position
    2. take three deep breaths
    3. close your eyes
    4. breathe in - count 1 in your head
    5. breathe out - count 2 in your head
    6. repeat till you get to ten
    7. start over

    Peace...

Have you tried? It takes time, depending on the person and their mind.

There's not much information here. Are you referring to invasive thoughts which cause you displeasure? This could be a form of OCD, which is very treatable. If you have a short attention span, on the other hand, you may have ADHD or something like it. Not sure what "things I don't want to see" refers to... are you trying to suppress unpleasant realities? Sometimes things are hard to face alone. A therapist might be able to help you get clarity and relief.
By the way, there's very little we can control.

I've already been going to a therapist several months , actually... And I've been tested and I don't have anything like ADHD. But I wonder, do you maybe know if there is anything else I can do against having my unpleasant thoughts go away when I want to? And also, do you know why they're these two voices in my head kind of like making word fights over what I do and such?

I have exactly the same thing!! I see things that I don't want and then I try to block them out. But, then I'll think "oooh, i've not thought about that for ages..." and then I can't get it out of my head; again...

And it's like my head is fighting against itself...

I just can't control my thoughts...

It's been stopping me getting to sleep as well, and the less sleep I have the more I can't control my thoughts.

Any ideas on how to stop it??
