I would like to find out if it is not possible to pay your rent if you can't afford it what can you do to reach an agreement with the Landlord to give you a chance? And if your husband doesn't have a work?

    Hello L:

Most landlords CAN'T do without rent, because they can't pay their OWN mortgage without it. So, I'd collect cans in order to keep a roof over your head. If you can trade work for rent, I'd DO that. But, there aren't too many ways out of the corner you're in.

This site is designed to enable people to help other people by providing legal answers. Not to make you feel good, or to provide sympathy.

You came to this site for a legal answer. You got one. If you can't pay rent you can be evicted. The fact that you can't pay is not the landlord's problem. It is not a defense to eviction. Simple as that. If the LL follows the law you either pay or get out. Simple as that.

Sure. We do sympathize with you. But the legal answer is the same.

Can the landlord work with you and "reach an agreement"? Sure. Can you force him to agree to anything less than what you owe him? No.

Life isn't all about sugar coating. You can't pay rent... you move.

It works like this. Landlord buys a house and he lives in it. He pays upwards of $600 a month on his mortgage. Landlord also owns another house he lets you live in. That mortgage is also $600 a month.

So, said landlord is paying $1,200 a month to the bank for the home he lives in AND the home you live in.

What makes you think that you aren't going to have to pay rent? The darn landlord has to feed his family too.

If you can't afford it, get off your tush and get a job or two, or three. If you can't do that, it's time you find a place you can afford.

Life is not a free ride you know. Times are tough for everyone. Including your landlord.
