I think it's a reporter or writer or something and he visits an asylum and they give him a cabin to stay in while he is getting info for his report. And there's a dog that keeps barking outside the cabin and scratching on the floor, and he finally goes out and see's why the dog keeps scratching the floor and he finds a wire underground which leads to the cabin and around the cabin behind the walls because they bugged his room and I think they have cameras as well. And I'm not sure but I think they try to convince him he's crazy maybe? But I might be getting confused with shutter island. Instead of convincing him he's going crazy it might be himself that thinks he's going crazy, and they might try to kill him when they find out that he knows something about the hospital but I'm not sure.
Also I can remember one of the patients going missing, and there's a big search and I think he jumps off the cliff or he was going to but they stopped him, can't really remember.

Pretty sure it's a movie from the last couple/few years but I may be wrong, although I'm almost certain its from the 2000's
