    Repairing lacquer finish
I have an ivory-colored dining set, but the table has been scratched by the pressure of cutting food in paper plates. There are a lot of small cuts in the table. I don't want to buy a new table and I hate having to use a table cloth to hide them, what do you suggest that I do to repair it?

Ivory colored, but what is the underside made of?

    Real wood?

    Particle board?

Is the top actually lacquered or is it a veneered laminate?

How do I make a lacquer finish tougher? [ 4 Answers ]

I just bought a new kitchen table with a satin lacquer finish. The list of "don'ts" that came with it is long and ridiculous for a family with kids. What can I do (other than cover it) to make it stand up to day to day use (i.e. resist scratching, water marks, etc.)? Thanks for any help.

Can anyone help me find the name of the song and lyrics to the song that has the line... "It's not where you start, it's where you finish and I'm going to finish on top." It came from a show, possibly Barnum? Thanks David
