My two and a half year old son keeps getting unexplained fevers, could it be serious?
My two and a half year old son keeps getting random high fevers. They last on and off for like a week then they go away completely for a week or two and come back. We take him to the clinic and the ER they always say he's fine. His eyes, ears, and throat look good and his lungs sound good so they tell us to alternate between tylenol and motrin and send us home. My concern is I want to know if there could be something more serious going on that they haven't checked?

I think if you are worried, you are not satisfied by what you've been told so I would pursue it further. Go to another pediatrician and get another opinion. Document the fevers - dates, times, temperatures as well as any medication you might be giving him.
Fevers usually are a sign that the body is fighting an infection, so I would not be satisfied with no answer particularly if they are lasting so long.
I would not be overly worried as kids his age do get a lot of bugs.

Yes, constant fevers can be dangerous in one so young. I don't think the right approach is ER or a walk in clinic. You should have a pediatrician to take care of this issue. Please get a referral through your doctor.
You have to have your baby properly tested by a specialist to rule out any serious conditions.

If the fevers are recurring unchecked, then yes, I would be worried ! At that age, a youngster's immune system is not fully developed yet (good plug for breastfeeding!) and care must be taken.

Okay thank you both for your inputs. He does have a pediatrian too but he always seems to be the worst when the office is closed usual in the middle of the night or the weekend. But we've taken him to their office also and he said the same thing he's fine its probably just something viral but this has been going on for two or three months now and I'm starting to get concerned. Everyone keeps telling me its just a fever hell be fine but how many times can he just get a fever without anything being wrong, Ya know? I will start document these incindents though.

In as much detail as you can. List what you are giving him to eat and how much, his sleeping habits that day, etc.
