Sounds like the unit is "locking out", and removing/replacing the access panel is interrupting/ restoring power and cancelling the lockout. Does the unit have a status LED behind a clear viewer on one of the front panels? If so, observe and note pattern (if any) of blinks next time the unit locks out. Do so BEFORE opening front panel.

Overheating, flame failure, are the two most common issues.

Check inside the access panels, or on the circuit board, for service legend.

Three blinks usually means pressure switch code, but if you look everywhere on the furnace the codes should be listed somewhere. Neve seen won without them. They would also be listed in your instulation manual if you have it.

I have a concord 80 plus that is mounted horizontally. The pilot light turns on, the gas ignites, but will only stay lit for a few seconds. It will try this three or four times before the blower shuts off. The thermostat works fine (atleast it did for ac). Any suggestions?
