    Why not call him;

    Man!

He is, after all, just that. :)

Really, I hope it works out. A nickname won't make it special, your relationship, your commitment, the fun you have together, the life you may build together, that's what makes it special.

    A name is just a name. :)

since this is a message board, anyone can answer at any time. Not everyone has the same opinions, and I've seen quite a few arguments over things even as small as this.
Don't let other's opinions get to you so much! :)

I'm not lecturing you, and you're not in trouble, I'm just letting you know so that you don't get in trouble in the future.
I have no intentions of a heated discussion. I thought it would be a fun discussion though and was hoping for ideas. I think most of you are right though and the nickname will come in time.

Only one problem with that theory.

This is the Relationship forum. It's not really the place for a "fun discussion". It's a place to post serious questions about relationships.

This could be a fun chat thread idea, but it's in the wrong forum for that.

    Live and learn. :)

Thanks to altenweg. I was looking for something italian since we both are. I like bello & bellisimo.not sure I can do the accent though. Might be cheesey without the accent. My other idea was smthng animal like bear or panda. Is panda cheesy? It might be lol.
I know a pet name does not make a relationship. I know every relationship is a risk. Everything in life is a risk. Without risks what is life? Boring..
Never meant this to be serious. :)

There really is no "fun" category. I just checked. I really do appreciate your advice though. Thank you.

There are member discussion forums just for this type of thing.

They're more chatty, for fun, for general discussion, nothing serious.

I think they're under the last category. If you need help finding them, ask. I'm happy to help if you need it. :)

    Then stick around. :)

This is a wonderful site. We have wonderful people here.

There are a lot of forums, sometimes it takes a while to understand how this place works, how it flows. We're here to help you figure it out. :)

Really, if you need any help figuring this place out, if you don't know where to post something, just ask. You can PM me, you can post it in forum questions (OMG, is that the name of the forum? It may not be) or you can ask one of our senior members or experts. We're all here to help, it's what we do. :)

I look forward to seeing you around the site.

Seriously though, if you have a question about the site, ask.

Good luck with the nickname, right now, mine is Nighty Night. :)

What I meant by sounding a bit controlling is that it sounded like you wanted to give him a nickname without really thinking about him or your relationship. More like you were writing a script of how you want a relationship with him to go.

I didn't mean to sound harsh. I just wanted you to think about 'how' you were trying to come up with a nickname and how it could be perceived.

I agree that Member Discussions is probably the best place to discuss nicknames. The link on the Home Page is at the bottom under Forum Community.

I look forward to seeing you on the discussion threads. :)

I understand what you are saying now. You're right about me having an idea of how I want the relationship to go. I think I'll skip posting in member discussions on this topic and just wait on the nickname until something comes to me. Also thinking about it any nickname idea given to me wouldn't be original or personal to the relationship. He likes bello and bellissimo.just need to learn the accent! Thanks!

I suddenly have the urge to watch old Sophia Loren movies, now. :)

I hope you enjoy your relationship with this gentleman whether it stays on friendly footing or expands into a wonderful romance. :)

My previous two big loves were both italian, 3rd generation in the US... so the names they used could very well be absolutely wrong...

My last italian ex would occasionally call me something like "copa costa"... which is surely spelled wrong and maybe not even a true translation... meant something like "hard head" ;)

The previous girl would simply call me "amante", for "lover"... I absolutely loved that "nickname"

Yeah you just seemed a bit annoyed, so I wanted to let you know. I'm glad you're not hot-headed and think it's cool to argue with people online. :)

My son gave my partner my newest nickname...

    ST for short-temper.

Isn't that grand coming from your child?
