No EX . Would someone making an Italian or a French joke (I seem to hear them used freely here ) be a racist ? Of course not.
What you are doing is divining what is racist or not based on what you think is in the heart of the person making the joke. Or as I called it based on spectral evidence.
Edit you did not answer my question about the Jimmy C and Buchanan .

Hello again, El:
So, it's going to be those sneaky illegal Canucks who're going to run out of the ER when the border cops arrive? Is that what you're saying??
Did you think I'd miss that?

Hello again, tom:
I don't know if you noticed, but the Italians and the French are WHITE. So no, an Italian joke is NOT a racist joke... I don't know what's so hard to get here...
I have NO idea what connection Carter and Buchanan have.

I guess that all depends on if you're thinking anthropologically, or culturally and socially.
No matter, under Obama's plans no one would have to leave the room.
President Obama said this week that his health care plan won't cover illegal immigrants, but argued that's all the more reason to legalize them and ensure they eventually do get coverage.
He also staked out a position that anyone in the country legally should be covered - a major break with the 1996 welfare reform bill, which limited most federal public assistance programs only to citizens and longtime immigrants.
"Even though I do not believe we can extend coverage to those who are here illegally, I also don't simply believe we can simply ignore the fact that our immigration system is broken," Mr. Obama said Wednesday evening in a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. "That's why I strongly support making sure folks who are here legally have access to affordable, quality health insurance under this plan, just like everybody else.
Mr. Obama added, "If anything, this debate underscores the necessity of passing comprehensive immigration reform and resolving the issue of 12 million undocumented people living and working in this country once and for all."
Republicans said that amounts to an amnesty, calling it a backdoor effort to make sure current illegal immigrants get health care.
So, he wants amnesty so they'll all be covered regardless. Now would be a great time to tell all those racist Americans that oppose Obamacare (oops, there I go being racist) that he really does want us to pay for health care for 12 million illegals.

Then why is antisemetic comments offensive ? You are very inconsistent.
Btw ,the thing Buchanan and Carter have in common is their anti-semitism. Carter has a pair of coconuts to be making any comments about anyone else's prejudices .

The word is being sprayed in all directions, creating a hall of mirrors that is draining the scarlet R of its meaning and its power, turning it into more of a spitball than a stigma.
"It gets to the point where we don't have a word that we use to call people racist who actually are," said John McWhorter, who studies race and language at the conservative Manhattan Institute.
" The more abstract and the more abusive we get in the way we use the words, then the harder it is to talk about what we originally meant by those terms," he said.

Hello Elliot:
Were your relatives laughing when the Nazis, who carried signs with pictures of Jews with big noses, pulled them out of their houses, sliced their babies in half for the fun of it, yanked out their teeth out for the gold, and murdered 6,000,000 more??
What did they call Jews who collaborated with Nazi's?? Kapo's?
Happy New Year, Elliot.

Ex
Really---in MN (and some of the other areas where Mexico is a long way away and Canada is pretty close), there is a good chance that half the people getting up in the ER would be white.
You know what perpetuates racism? Those people who are NOT racist seeing racism everywhere. Frankly, these days there is as much discrimination against whites as there is against blacks and Hispanics. Ever try to get a job in an EOE business in a place where people SCREAM racism if a more qualified white is hired over a less qualified Hispanic? I have. I've LIVED in TX, where getting a job just about REQUIRES being able to speak Spanish--who is getting preferential treatment for THOSE jobs, hmmm?
I worked in an environment where there was one co-worker who drove EVERYONE crazy. We couldn't understand her, she made constant mistakes we had to fix FOR her, and she was unhygenic on top of it. EVERY time she was called into the boss's office for a reprimand, she pulled out the race card. Because she was the only hispanic working in our department (I worked in a major university, so believe me, there were plenty of hispanics on campus), she claimed that we were ALL racist and that she'd sue the school and each of us individually if we didn't leave her alone. My point with this is that none of us were racist--while half the staff was white, the other half was black, American Indian, or of Oriental regions/descent. Bear in mind that our whole staff wasn't more than 30 people. So... the ONLY person who has ever accused me to my face of being a racist was a lazy, smelly "spic" who didn't do her job correctly, which resulted in more work for me. I didn't give a DAMN about her racial background--I just wanted her to do her JOB.
So--I refuse to be called a racist because I think that illegal aliens (of ANY race) should go home and fix their own damned countries and stop leeching off ours. I ALSO refuse to be called a racist because I expect people (of ANY race) to do the job they're being paid to do correctly--and be held to the SAME standards that I am being held.
PS--Ex, would you even KNOW my race if you hadn't seen a picture?

It's not racist to not to offer health cover to illegals after all they can pay for it if they want it. My own government doesn't offer health coverage to illegal immigrants, even though they are a minority, and we have universal health coverage. There is a point beyond which the system should not go.

Nazis didn't "carry signs with pictures of Jews with big noses". They committed mass murder. Apparently you can't see the difference... which again is why I say you are overly sensitive. You equate humor that doesn't even point to a specific racial group with genocide of a specific group. YOU are the one with a messed up compass, excon, not me.

What is that a picture of, Excon?
Because I don't speak German, I don't know what the newspaper says, and I don't see a single Yarmulka in the picures that would indicate that Jews are being made fun of. I have no idea what that is supposed to have said.
Now... one thing that I do recognize is a reference to "Juden", meaning Jews.
Which means that there's a WHOLE LOT OF DIFFERENCE between the joke I posted, which referenced nobody in particular, and this newspaper, which references Jews.
Sorry, the two can't be equated.
Furthermore, I've never seen anyone killed by a newspaper story. Or a joke.
On the other hand, 6 million Jews (and a total of 13 million people) were killed by gas chambers.
You can try to equate humor with Nazi genocide as much as you want, but there ain't no simmilarity between the two. Especially when the joke wasn't about racism, but rather illegal behavior.
An illegal behavior that YOU are associating with a particular race. Which of course makes YOU the racist, not me.
