    Paternity and Rights
I am having troubles with my daughter and her not wanting to take care of her daughter. She is either back on drugs or bipolar. The father has been identified with a paternity test but his name is not on the birth certificate, what are the extent of his rights? He has been informed about the situation and the response I received from him was he cannot emotionally and physically take her because of school and work. I work out of state and cannot take her with me, but she has great grandparents that are able and willing to take care of her and see to it that she gets what she needs. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place and not sure what to do. I do not want her to fall in between the cracks. HELP!

The father has the rights AND responsibilities of ANY father. Has child support been asked for?

The grandparents can request temporary guardianship until the mother can get back on her feet.

No, child support has not been put in effect but I know he has given some money to help but he told me that he does not have time right now to take her for a little while even, due to school 3 days a week and work 4 days a week. I work on the road a lot and the only other family that can take care of her and keep her well being together lives in another state. He told me that he would rather not her be in another state, but on the other hand he cannot take her periodically. So what kind of a rock and a hard place am I stuck in between?
