Of course I misquote when I say "roomate" because he was the one asking the question. He has not responded to this thread in quite some time so I'm assuming he approached "the Landlord" and hopefully had an understanding one considering his situation. I was not looking for a "cat and dog fight" regarding his problem. I was simply trying to give him an "option" regarding the "Military Claus". Yes, I did ask the question "can a person suddenly decide to join the military, get excepted and get out of a lease." The answer was "Yes". This is not fighting the military, the military will represent the individual and handle the situation in a legal matter. Normally through the Landlord.

I can't decide if your heavy use of quotation marks is an attempt at humor or an attempt at sarcasm. Either way - it's not a "cat and dog" fight when you post information on the legal boards and cannot back the information up with fact or, minimally, discuss what you have posted.

You say you asked your brother: "can a person suddenly decide to join the military, get excepted and get out of a lease." That's not the question. The question is whether the unrelated OP/ROOMMATE can break the lease if the co-signing ROOMMATE is excepted/accepted.

The person enlisting, by Federal Law, can break the lease. There is simply no provision for co-signers on the lease. The Military most definitely will not represent this individual, the OP, under any circumstance. If your brother has information to the contrary and can cite the law, please post the information.
