Operation of butane gas log in fireplace
The last time I turned on the gas log a big flame shot out into the room and now I am scared to turn it on. It has not been on for about 3 yrs. What is the safest way to do it?

Do not turn them on again until someone can look at them on site at your home. I can not see what kind if logs you have and how they are supposed to work from here that is why you need someone to actually look at the setup you have and give you advise. It is possible there is a problem with them since they are not supposed to shoot out big flames.
