Have you tried just plain old salt? If I get something like poison ivy I take a few cups of plain old salt and soak in a bathtub for about 20 minutes with it. I do this every day for as long as I have problems. After the bath you can rinse your body off with a shower if you like or don't bother rinsing. Also, for worse spots you can take regular old salt and make a paste using liquid soap in a coffee cup and apply that to the areas you want to draw out the itch from. You can do this at the same time you take the salt bath but be sure to rinse the liquid soap concoction off your body though after the bath.

Salt doesn't cost much. Try it. Many small irritants are killed by salt.

I'm sorry but if you have scabies, there are prescription creams to help eventually get rid of these mites. I don't see any other way of getting rid of them, so none of this makes sense to me. I mean, I know you may be getting advice on how to get rid of the itching, but if you have had this for over three months, or six months or however long, that's pretty serious-and too long to still have these mites. Get the prescription medicine and try some anti itching cream. Wash everything in hot water (just like if you were to have lice)-clean everything and apply the cream to your entire body from the neck down-don't bath for up to 12 hours (some directions may advise otherwise)-get proper medication. That's all I have to say

Oops I'm sorry I misinterpreted (sp?) the original question. I should have asked-did you get prescription medicine for this? The itching can go on for up to 2 weeks. Just keep reapplying anti-itch products that you have been using and try some of the previous suggestions that you have received.

Wow. I would get another opinion from a different doctor then. How long did you have these itchy welps before you were diagnosed? Maybe you DO have something else, but if you have had these for a very long time before you were propertly diagnosed, it could take longer to recover. Remember, if you don't wash all of your clothing in hot water and any other items around your house, including coats, vacuum your car out, I mean CLEAN everything-if things aren't cleaned properly, they will just keep coming back and back. Please keep that in mind as well.

You may need to try a stronger medication and make sure to apply it as exactly directed by your physician. Also, it can take up to a month for someone else to catch it so be careful sleeping with the wife and grandkids. Be consistent in your cleaning as well. I mean you have to wash everything-such as sheets, pillowcases, coats, jackets, carpet, matresses. Be sure that your body is clean before applying any medicine on to your skin (esp. underneath fingernails and such). Also, make sure that you don't bathe for at least up to 12 hours after applying your medication. Continue to use anti itch oinments. The itch will last up to two weeks and should stop almost completely by then. It's a pain, but if this is what you are truly diagnosed with, you have to be consistent for quite a while.
Otherwise, if it continues longer than 3 weeks, I would seek out a different opinion from a different physician.

You are welcome. The fact that you mentioned that it bothers you most at night does sound like it could indeed be scabies. So it sounds like you may just need a stronger prescription. Remember what I said about the cleaning. I know you said you have used the Lice stuff-which is good-but you still need to wash every single thing in hot water. Good luck to you.
