You may need to try a stronger medication and make sure to apply it as exactly directed by your physician. Also, it can take up to a month for someone else to catch it so be careful sleeping with the wife and grandkids. Be consistent in your cleaning as well. I mean you have to wash everything-such as sheets, pillowcases, coats, jackets, carpet, matresses. Be sure that your body is clean before applying any medicine on to your skin (esp. underneath fingernails and such).Also, make sure that you don't bathe for at least up to 12 hours after applying your medication. Continue to use anti itch oinments. The itch will last up to two weeks and should stop almost completely by then. It's a pain, but if this is what you are truely diagnosed with, you have to be consistent for quite a while.
Otherwise, if it continues longer than 3 weeks, I would seek out a different opinion from a different physician.
