I'm 17 almost 18. I recently had spring break and I was staying at my boyfriends house. Well, my family got upset when they found out and made me go to the clinic. The possibility is great that I might be pregnant. My boyfriend knows and so does his family. They're all happy for us and feel that we should be making our own decisions. But on the other hand, my family is full of it. They won't let me establish my own independence so therefore I'm scared to even tell them. So my plan was to wait until after graduation and after I move out to tell them. Do you think that's a good idea?? :confused:

The possibility is great? Did you get a positive test result? If you didn't then the possibility is 50/50. I think it is unwise to not inform your parents. Remember any dissappointment they show is only out of love and concern for you. The decision is yours ultimately, on what you will do if you are pregnant, they can not make you do anything. You are still young though, so you should think long and hard about what kind of situation you will put yourself and possibly a child in. Babies are expensive and require a large amount of attention. You will need to afford housing, food, formula, diapers, baby furniture, toys and daycare so you can work to buy all that. Your social life will virtually disappear. I am not saying you should or should not keep a baby, but Im telling you first hand, from someone who has been there, that it isn't all shoots and giggles... its hard work and very stresssful. Tell your parents, listen to their advice. They have been through much more than you realize and may have some helpful insight. Good luck.
