    Liens on divorce property
I have a real estate lien on a property in Oregon, from a divorce. If my ex-husband dies does the lien still stand?
Also, how do I figure the interest rate on the $10,000 lien at 9% annum for 5 years?

    Thank you
    Debbie

A lien is an encumbrance on a property that prevents it from being transferred to a new owner until the encumbrance is paid. Generally a lien is for a specified amount and doesn't gain interest. If the owner dies, the lien still remains in effect.

    $10,000 x.09 x5 = $4,500 simple interest NOT compounded
