The only way to legally evict someone is through the court. You do have to pay to file the papers with the court but they are pretty easy to fill out. Then once filed you will get a court date. You show up to the court date and the judge (who will probably be doing a lot of evictions that day, from what I've seen anyway) will call you up when it is your turn. S/He may or may not ask you for more reason other than what you have on the form that you already filed. If granted, I only say if because I don't know your case personally not because I don't think it will be granted, the judge will give the person(s) a date to be out by.

I would add that in most, if not all, states, if the person living with you is considered a "tenant" so that the requirement that you must file for eviction in court applies, you will probably have to give the person a written demand to leave ("notice to quit") in so many days. In most places this would be 30 days, but some states have a shorter period and others have a longer period. This notice must be given before the eviction action can be filed in court.

I've moved this from Family Law. It doesn't matter whether you are trying remove a relative or non relative from your home. As long as the person is a resident, then they need to be treated as a tenant to get them to vacate. This means legal notice to vacate, followed up by going to court for an eviction order if they refuse to vacate.
