I don't know where to turn with this, I'm too embarrassed to talk about it with my parents. I'm a 15 year old girl and I'm in gymnastics. I was in a competition last weekend and before I was to go on and perform my balance beam routine, I had to pee really bad. I told my coach, but he said there was no time. He said "just hold it and go right when you're done." I was really nervous too. As I was on the beam, I felt like I could no longer hold it. I stopped and started shaking on the beam and then I felt myself starting to pee, and I didn't know what to do so I sat down on the beam thinking that would help me make it stop. I was peeing through my leotard in front of the whole gym. I even tried holding my crotch to stop it and I had to go so bad, I couldn't stop it, even as I was sitting on it. My coach came out to help me off the beam and I was crying and so embarrassed and I just ran off the floor. My mom then was yelling at me, saying I embarrassed her because I wet my pants. The other girls on the team were laughing saying they couldn't believe I peed in front of everyone. Everyone thinks this is a joke and I hate myself because of it. Why couldn't I hold my urine? Is there something wrong with me? I'm so afraid I might have to go to the Dr because of this. What's wrong with me? Someone please answer.

Why couldn't you hold it? Because you had to go, you were straining doing the routine, and because you were nervous. Really, you should have gone before you needed to go out but it's too late for that now. Just try to forget about it and move on. Eventually the others will find something else to think about.

I do have to say though, your mother blew it and handled it incredibly poorly. She needs someone to slap her.
