    Hi PH

Two realistic choices when a gasket gets stretched out:

Get some 1/8" gasket material (called rainbow packing up in my area) and cut a new gasket OR simply purchase another basket strainer.

If you get a new basket strainer (approx. $15.00) get one that has the 1.5" nut (see image), not the 3.5" nut (see other image)... you can thank me later... ;)

A few times my husband has stopped a leak under my kitchen sink. It seems to be only on one side where it meets to cross to the other side of the double sink. Hi, we have a leak under our kitchen sink below the drain basket. The metal pipe from the drain connects to a plastic pipe with a compression joint using a plastic nut. The water is coming from the top of the nut at the metal pipe. We have replaced the gasket and the nut, and it still leaks. ...
