    I'm freaking out!
My chihuahua is a short-haired female, and will have her first birthday on January 24. I'm super concerned because she is losing her hair on her tail, head, and now is getting to her sides of her body. It's really nerve-racking, because she also has one crippled leg. Please help me!!

Maybe take her to the vet? I mean, that seems to be the logical approach here.

Definitely get the dog to the vet. Hair loss can be caused by a variety of issues. Let the vet decide what the cause is for the hair loss.

I third the suggestion of a vet. There's absolutely no way for anyone online to give you a diagnosis.

Chihuahuas are pretty prone to thyroid issues. Hair loss is one of the symptoms.

Looks like a vet visit is in your near future.

You don't need to be snarky. You didn't mention that in your original post. What are the possibilities and how is the vet ruling each one out?

We can't read minds. We can only go by what you've told us, and there was no mention of the vet, or any diagnosis, in your original post. Most of the people coming here expect us to diagnose their pets, and refuse to go to a vet.

Oh, I'm so sorry... I deeply apologize. I mean, imagine me mot realizing that you already took the dog to the vet! The nerve of me to have overlooked that in your original post... oh, wait... I just read it again. Nope, don't see where you bothered to mention that.

So, uh, these "four different possibilities"... want to tell us what they might be?

Or, we can guess at that too I suppose.

But my crystal ball is in the shop Odinn! Without it, I'm useless at reading minds! :(

This one time the poster is actually going to have to give us all the information, instead of us guessing and ticking her off because we don't know everything she failed to mention. Sigh. It sure makes life hard when my mind reading powers are on the fritz. ;)
