Daily protein intake for wound healing
I'm a 170lb quadriplegic trying to heal pressure wounds and would like to take a protein supplement to boost the healing process. What's the ideal amount of protein I should consume on a daily basis? How much protein is too much?

Just taking protein drinks will not boost your immunity but will help (visit your local health food store or go on line to find out which ones are best, I can't advise on this) and heal pressure wounds. Pressure wounds take away much of the three layers of skin down to the bone in most cases.

Your diet is an important part of your healing process. Increase protein in the diet by choosing meats, eggs, dairy products, peanut butter, nuts, beans and peas, or take protein-supplement powders, bars or drinks. Protein aids the growth of new cells, collagen and connective tissues. Of course these suggestions may vary if you are a diabetic.

How severe are yours Monkey ? And where do you have them, if they are on your butt cheeks and on your coxcyx area, that is your tailbone portion, then you need more then protein drinks.

You don't say where you are and if you were in Canada, this could be taken care of quite readily.

I can suggest a dressing called Tegaderm which is an adhesive dressing with all healing properties in it; but has to be applied by a nurse here.
