    Implanon, can I be pregnant?
I've noticed many people writing about the same thing. I got my implanon inserted in January of 2009 after being on the shot since October of 2007. So besides the light spotting for a day when I got the implant in, I haven't had a period since October of 2007. I was happy with the shot but my new gyno didn't do it at her practice and pretty much bullied me into getting implanon, which stupidly on my part I did no research on until after. I joined the military in march and went to meps (military entrance processing) in April I weighed in at 98 lbs then. Since April I've gone from 98 to 116 which is very weird for me seeing as I rarely gain weight and in my entire 19 years of life I've never weighed over 105.I didn't think much of it until about a month ago when my breasts started hurting. It started with just the nipple feeling bruised and getting bigger and then the whole breast hurting. Now they don't hurt anymore but they are hard and about a cup size bigger. Since I was younger my stomach has always protruded whenever I ate but it went away not long after but now its constant and I feel like its getting bigger and its kind of embarrassing because I am a small girl with a big gut lol. Its not hard like I know usually it is but it isn't just my stomach its down more towards my pelvis. I also have been having HORRIBLE heart burn. And peeing more often and my appetite is that of an obese person. I took 3 home tests all negative and went to my gyno who just blew me off saying it was impossible. She took a pee test there but I don't think she checked at all for pregnancy. I'm not sure if I am really pregnant or has anyone else on implanon had symptoms like mine? If I'm not pregnant then my body sure as hell thinks it is and I know for sure when I'm out of boot camp this implant is coming out of my arm because I don't think this is normal.

But I used to have the injection but fell pregnant on that now I've had the implanon for a year and because I'm really aneamic too I usually see a period guaranteed cause I bleed bad but now I'm 13 days late my boobs are killing me and my stomach getting bigger but as you say its not hard! But then again nor was it in early stages with m other 4 pregnancys... home tests are negative, but I feel pregnant, I don't know where I am with it!! 1?1?1

This birth control is designed to trick the body into thinking it is pregnant is how it was explained to me. Now this is diff for every woman. Some feel much more pregnant than others. I knew of many of the side effects that were possible like weight gain, acne, mild hair loss, VERY irregular bleeding and spotting and so on. But what I didn't know is that it can also cause all sorts of other crazy pregnancy like symptoms like water retension (feels like you have to pee a lot and you gain some extra sudden weight), increased vaginal infections, increased/frequent urinary tract infections, tender nipples, headaches, hot flashes, fatigue, bloated tummy, lower abdomin tenderness... and the list goes on. Not to mention depression and moodiness. Ive wondered if I was pregnant a few times and I've been on implanon for about 15mths. But so far nothing has come of my concerns. Not saying you shouldn't check into it because it is always possible. Now Im having all sorts of crazy symptoms again, some that I didn't have during my other times of worry. But they all fit the above side effects... except indigestion which I haven't heard of being a side effect yet and I'm having lots of that. That and gas (tmi sorry) but that IS a side effect believe it or not. So it's very confusing. Ive had 4 kids and I know what it means to be pregnant yet Ive been confused several time the last year since getting this in. So to all those out there who are worried... it's likely you are just one of many of us experiencing the insanity of what this thing can do to your body and mind. STill I'd always suggest testing to rule out anything because it's not unheard of to be pregnant on it of course. But it is highly doubtful. THe only thing that seems good about this implanon is that it does work as good birth control but otherwerwise I HATE it! I AM THINKING OF GETTING IT REMOVED even though I hate to spend the money and not sure what the heck I'll do for birth control since I am very fertile. My 4th baby was a pill baby. But I can't go on like this as implanon is screwing up my body so much and giving me off and on emotional issues too. That plus feeling unsexy with constant bleeding or spotting and acne and weight gain and all the other crap is wreaking

I have been on implanon for about a year now (Changed to it because I was on Depo shot for like 5). Yes. For like the first 3 or 4 months it seemed that I was having ALL of the same symptoms that you described. I seriously thought that I was pregnant. To the point of crying my eyes out until the nurse would give me a blood test because I didn't believe the pee tests. The blood tests proved tha I was NOT pregnant... Implanon apparently just really makes you feel like you are, bulging tummy, none/crazy periods, painful breats, crazy *** emotions... I thought I was going crazy! But after all that... my periods are "kinda" regular now... Emotions normal, weight under control.. I think it just took time to "get stable or level out" in my system...

Well like all of you Im experiencing all of the same symptoms as well. I been on implanon for 2yrs now and I haven't felt like this at all da whole 2 yrs not even and da beginning. Im concerned because I have 2 kids already and I don't recall the feeling like feeling a baby kick as one of the symptoms of Implanon. Ive taken 5 tests (4 urine and 1 blood) all negative but I have read that you can get a false negative on both tests. I just don't know what to do now but try to get an ultrasound done to confirm that there's no baby in there. I hate to be pregnant and not know and keep this Implanon in and it mess my baby up later. What should I do? Can anybody help?

Hiya have you ladies read up on the hook effect? It may give you another option for reassurance, testing with diluted urine, but it sounds like implanon is known for this and I wouldn't be surprised if the symptoms did come and go in odd cycles, good luck ladies xxx

When you have the implant it makes your body think your pregnant so on a home test it will come up negative , you need to get blood test to find out.

Is my body still fooling me, cause i got to tell ya, that one magic trick!

Yes, I feel these too, it's weird and very worrying considering my doctor did not test me for pregnancy beforehand when I distinctly told him that I just had the morning after pill and am now going on the implanon, but I don't know if I'm pregnant... He just pushed it aside and put the implanon in... I haven't thought much of it since, until now as I'm feeling nautious all the time, except for when I eat, and I'm rather sensitive to smells and tastes, as well as this twiching in my stomach. I have gained an extra bra cup size, not size in clothing at all, and a little weight. I sleep from 9 pm to 11am the next morning, and the drink I have everyday, Milo, is now disgusting to me... It's terrible because I loved that drink. My boyfriend says that it's just the implanon doing it's crazy things, but I'm not so satisfied. I'm going to take a pregnancy test soon, because I'm getting sick of this nausea, literally lol

It's been almost a year since I got my implanon and it worked fine with me. Every since I got it I've been having a period every other month which is great, but know I'm throwing up eating a whole lot terrible headaches, weight gain like crazy, can't sleep but I'm always tired, my back is always huting me, always having to pee and I mean really bad can't even hold it for a minute. But the most concerning part is that I FEEL KICKS AND MOVEMENT IN MY LOWER ABDOMEN LIKE I DID WITH MY FIRST PREGNANCY. Have anyone else had these symptoms

I am on the implanon and I am overdue by 5 months. I have ALL the pregnancy symptoms I had with my other two and I could very well be pregnant. I never had these symptoms my whole time on it so I'm getting worried. Home tests say negative. Although one was a VERY faint positive. So I had one out of 20 say yes. I haven't seen anybody overdue and I'm really wondering now! HELP PLEASE!

The leaking I have had. I had a miscarriage back in July after the IUD was taken out, my doctor said it was okay to get pregnant right after, but after I got it taken out, I got pregnant had a miscarriage at 10 weeks, and well found out it was because of that. Now, I'm on the implenon, and my breasts are leaking. So I'm wondering..

An implanon is the most effective form of birth control there is. I would not advise getting it taken out because an implanon is very exspencive. I am 14 years old and I got my implanon about two weeks ago. An implanon may help you loose weight and it can cause weight loss. It is completely normal to have either side effects. There is only about a 1% chance of getting pregnant while you are on this birth contol unless of course you are pregnant before you have the implanon inserted into your arm and if that was the case the baby would die. That is why the doctor has you take a pregnancy test before having the implanon sergicly inserted into.your arm. You can always call.your doctor and make an apointment if nesisary. Good luck c: ~Christa
