Hi everyone I was looking for some help with writing a letter to the father of my daughter to ask him to meet up with her.
We were only together short term when I got pregnant and then he left to travel.he meet his daughter just two times when she was young but he said that she did not look like him and that he wanted a dna test I agreed to this but he just decided to go travelling and forget about her.
My daughter is 10 years old and asks about her father often
I used to always tell her that her dad works far away.. but as she has got older that answer isn't good enough for her anymore.she sees all her friends with their dads and I know she hurting.. she asked me the other day if I was a widow I said no but she said well you are like a widow because I never see my dad it breaks my heart to see her sad like that

Her father lives in Australia and I know he is returning home at christmas and I was hoping to write him a letter to ask him (beg him) if he would please meet up with her just so she sees his face and knows he is real I know this would be so good for her
I just don't know how to go about writing the letter so if anyone could help I would be so grateful thank you

Do you know for sure he really is her father?

Yes of course I do he was the only man I was with at that time.

So, you never went to court to establish paternity and you never pursued child support?

Where are you?

You can tell him that his daughter frequently asks about him. Tell him you are not looking for monetary support (unless you are) just that he get to know his daughter.

I wonder if it would be a good thing if the daughter wrote a short note to him. A nice note with a drawing, and not a pathetic, teary one. Any thoughts about that?

If he didn't answer her it would break her heart how could I do that to her..

It sounds like her heart is already breaking. She knows she has a father and he doesn't want to be around her.

If you approached it the right way with her, it could work, and it might be just what he needs to change his mind. And his response, or a no response, would give her closure.

I would never let her write to him first unless I knew he would answer her... she is 10 years old just a little girl if he didn't answer that would knock her confidence and love of herself for life so I will write to him and if he doesn't answer I will deal with it then but thank you for answering
