If you ever become a paralegal, you hopefully will know that one does not have a misdemeanor. One has a misdemeanor conviction on one's record.

And this is much more important for a would-be paralegal to understand: assuming that you are in the U.S. there are 50 states (and other territories and such as well) in this country. Some of them regulate paralegals and others don't. Each one that does has different sets of rules. In short, it depends upon the rules for your particular state or other jurisdiction.

I seriously doubt that many, of any, states have rules that would disqualify you because of this old misdemeanor conviction. Why don't you look it up?

Yes you can become one, if there are a few states that have rules restricting it, you can always move to come one. But I have never seen rules that would stop someone with just misdemeanor convictions from becoming one.

You may or may not have trouble getting a position, some law firms may be strictor than others, but that is a matter of finding a job.
