    she later changed my 1099!
Last year my children and I lived with my girlfriend. I worked casually for her, for her home business, which was an LLC. As happens when 2 people live together, the comings and goings of who paid what money, bills, groceries and earnings wasn't exactly meticulous. So long as things got paid, everyone was happy.

After we broke up, she stopped being in business. Recently, for 2006 tax purposes, we had a meeting, and agreed a fair amount that closely resembled the actual amount of money over the year that went into my account (approx $10,000). I thought it fairly reflected the amount of work I had done, and she issued me a 1099 for that amount.

Now, I have received, via certified letter, a "corrected" 1099, to the value of $33,000! This leaves me with a large tax liability that I don't have, PLUS the elimination of my EIC

Is there anything I can do? I have my bank statements to back me up, but no receipts or paystubs or anything like that. She has a home she's in the process of selling. Can I lien it? Or do I just put it down to experience :(

    Your help is appreciated

First of course challenge it, send it back and deny making that much.

Send a copy of it to the IRS with a letter showing the first, and making note this was done as a abuse from an ex girlfriend,

If it is not true, you are not required to merely accept it.

There are often errors and false reports of earnings made, What you need to do is merely show to the best you can, actual.
She would have to prove you received those earnings if the IRS investigates it.

Agree with Fr Chuck; you need to get the IRS involved.
