On average Women normally have a 28 day cycle and a 14 day luteal phase so in a 14 day luteal phase that means u will ovulate 14 days after the first day of your last period so beings though my menstrual was the 26 of dec my ovulation date is January 9 however you are fertile several days before ovulation and one or two days after ovulation

    Hi Ny.Mitchell... welcome to AMHD,

It is important to keep in that mind that many women do not ovulate within the norm. The 28 day rule is the average so this is what is most often stated, along with the 14th day for ovulation. However, many will have shorter cycles and many will have longer cycles.

If yours is 28 days, then you may well indeed ovulate day 14, or at least around that time (ovulation generally occurs about 12-16 days before the next period regardless of how long the cycle is). However, you may be one of those women who naturally happens to ovulate a bit sooner or a bit later.

The ovulation calendars and such give you a starting place to track likely ovulation, but other signs may help you pinpoint it a bit better... such as changes in cervical mucus, the position of your cervix, and temperature changes.

With all of that said, if you happen to ovulate a bit sooner than what you expect, pregnancy becomes a more likely possibility in your circumstance. Women will vary in the number of fertile days they have leading up to ovulation as well.

Add to that, while most sperm will die off within about 2-3 days, there can be some that endure for up to 5 days or so.

Even if you were trying to get pregnant, you would have about a 20-25% chance of achieving it in any given cycle... so odds are in your favour that you won't be, but it certainly is a possibility anytime you have sex.

Long winded way of saying, yes... you could become pregnant from the situation you describe.
