    Charged with mischief under $5000
Was charged for crashing into ex gfs garage door, which resulted in some damage. Was arrested and charged for Mischief under $5000. Don't know if anything will be added, or can they?

First time offender, no criminal record.

I've read about Diversions and Peace Bonds. What is the likelihood of these outcomes?

What are some likely results or options that will take place?

Should I retain legal counsel, or will using the duty counsel be adequate?

Have you already paid her for all the damages and got it fixed, that will be one of the most important things when you get to court.

Next they may add some traffic tickets but I doubt it.
If you were drunk at the time ( did not say you were) they could add some public drunk or DUI to it.

Unless you already confessed of doing while angry, I would hire an attorney and go for not guilty and try to make it sound like a simple mistake or accident.

Damages... not allowed to contact her so I don't know what the damages are nor have I been able to suggest any type of restitution.

Traffic tickets... I got a minor one, but DUI is not in play as I didn't fail or subjected to any field tests.

I have not given any confession or statement as per advice from legal counsel.

Just trying to get some more info and what I can expect as this situation proceeds.

Have you turned over the damage to you car insurance, Someone, the court or someone has to contact her for damages, That would be one thing your attorney should do.
It will look a lot better in court if this is paid before you get there. There should be a dollar amount in the actual formal charges.

There is no damage to any cars... just the garage door itself. Haven't retained a lawyer yet, nor have I attended the first court hearing. Just trying to get some insight from anyone here .

    Thanks

Often after cooler heads prevail, and unless the ex appears in court to tell the court how dangerous you are. It is very likely that a good attorney may get you off with nothing but paying for the damages.

I prefer people getting off, case dismissed or not guilty. While diversion programs are great, there is still a record there that can always be seen by law enforcement and some levels of national security back ground searches.
