Ceiling fan won't run one swith outlet light and fan?
I tried to install a new ceiling fan/lignt kit in the place of an old fluorescent light. The (single) light switch won't turn on the ceiling fan or turn it off (the swith has no control at all on fan/light. The switch worked with the old fluorescent light)---the only way I turned it on/turned it off was at the breaker box! We have a ton of family coming in for Thanksgiving--nee dhelp now!

From what you have told us, you wired it wrong.
How to fix is impossible to say at this point, since we have no idea how anything is wired.

You need to identify each wire in the ceiling box and also the switch box.

Somehow you managed to wire the new fan differently than the old light. I'm not sure how this could happen.

Good advice, does this fan have pull chins? Otherwise you will not control the fan and the light separately once you get itwired correctly
