    Light switch
I recently installed a Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan (Hawkins 44") everything works great except for the wall mounted light switch. The switch turns the lights on & off but does not cont roll the fan? Where did I go wrong? I have 4 wires coming from the ceiling white, black, ground & red. I know white to white, black to black, ground to ground... what do I hook the red one to & is this the answer I am looking for?

    JB,

We need to know how the wiring is configured in the ceiling outlet.

For example, do you have a 2 wire cable with ground as the feed at the ceiling or is the feed coming off the switch.

On the fan you may havce a solid black that can hook to the red, If constantly hot, fan will work by pull chain.
If red is controlled by a switch, the fan will now be controlled by the switch.
You could hook the black/white and the black to your switch, then the switch would control both, and pull chain can shut down light or fan if you don't need.

If you have 2 wall switches that are both hot to the ceiling box, black to fan black/white and red to blue. You really only need 1 hot since you could connect the fan black/white and blue to the black. Then, use pull chains for controls.
