I have wired a switch in the middle of the circuit. I put the white hot wire marked black on the top of the switch and the black hot wire on the bottom. When I look at a diagram they have the black on top and the white hot on bottom. I have connected the white hot to the black wire coming out of the light and the black hot on the switch to the black wires in the box that continues one. Should I change the wiring in order to pass an inspection or does it matter which hot wire you use? All lights and switches function properly.

Saskatchewan. I attached a diagram that shows black on top white hot on bottom. I have just reversed the two wires in the switch and in the box.
