Wiring universal remote to hunter fan model 23681?
Hello, we moved into a house that has a hunter fan with a light. To make a LONG story short we needed a remote. I took the shorter and less expensive route and bought a universal remote. I didn't watch which wire went to anything. I know the green wires are the ground. The wires coming out of the ceiling are black, red and of course the green. The wires on the fan are black&white, black, and white. On the remote there is black&white-light out, fan out-red, common-out - white, common in- white, live in -black. PLEASE HELP

"wires comming out of the ceiling are black, red and of course the green" so there is no white neutral wire, correct? This would be quite unusual since you need a neutral. Black is typically hot and the other red could/should be hot too but maybe from a second switch, a 3 way. Is there a second switch?

We have the one green that is screwed in and a green one coming out of the ceiling, as well as the black, and a red coming out of the ceiling.

    FROM THE FAN

Green wire, a black & white stripped, a solid black wire, and then a white wire

Sorry, I had sent my question around 930 this morning, anyway, we are trying to connect a universal remote to our hunter fan. I didn't watch or get a chance to label everything. Coming out of the ceiling is:
ONE GREEN WIRE SCREWED IN -obviously that is the ground
    ONE BLACK WIRE
    ONE RED WIRE
ANOTHER GREEN WIRE, BUT SLIGHTLY A LIGHTER GREEN _ NOT SCREWED IN

    Coming out of the fan:
    BLACK AND WHITE WIRE
    BLACK WIRE
    WHITE WIRE

    Coming out of the remote:
BLACK & WHITE WIRE - LIGHT OUT
    RED - FAN OUT
    WHITE- COMMON OUT
    WHITE - COMMON IN
    BLACK - LIVE IN

I am confused by all of your posts and answers. The thing in the canopy is the receiver, in your hand is the remote, it has no wires

Yes you are correct. I am getting so frustrated. We hooked up all different kinds of ways. Now, the light shut off and the fan is going. Light seems dim, not bright. We ended hooking up some stuff tolive wire
