Dishwasher drain hose into drain opening for washer.

    Hi Mod3rnj...

Yes, you can hook into the undercounter washer drain... no air gap needed. Here, most dishwashers connect directly into a disposal or branch tailpiece, but some also connect into separated PTRAPS under sinks. You can use a reducing rubber clamp or just stick the dishwasher hose into the PTRAP standpipe (don't stick in too far)... secure properly using a clip so the hose doesn't pull out.

You will also want to secure the drain hose up high to the underside of the countertop and then drop down and into the PTRAP standpipe. This will aid in keeping dirty water from flowing back down and into the dishwasher... ;)

More questions - just let me know, OK?

Drain hose on washer [ 2 Answers ]

The drain hose in my washing machine is backing up. I had to replace the pipe that the hose sits in. It is about 3 inches shorter than the old one. Not sure if this has anything to do with the back up. It starts to drain fine, and then water comes out the top of the pipe.

Must play with drain hose to get washer to drain and spin [ 1 Answers ]

Hi, I have a GE WCSE6270 Washer. After the washer fills and agitates, it starts to make a gurgling, clicking noise and will not finish the cycle (i.e. drain and spin). I noticed that the drain hose in the back was a little leaky, and in trying to play with it, it made the washer drain and spin...

We just moved into a house with a septic system and a basement hook-up for the washing machine. There is a open pipe above the washer hookups which I assume is the drain for the washer? How do I change out the hose or do I add an extension or what? Or is this a job for a plumber? It's a...
