Are there any kind of blink error codes? Do you see light come from the lamp? How quickly does it shut off after starting up? More details please.

When the TV is on, before it shuts off, are you able to get any picture or sound? Are you able to access the menu? After it shuts off, are you able to turn it back on again? Or do you have to unplug it and plug it back in in order to turn it back on?

Okay, it's hard to say for sure what is causing the issue, but it sounds like it could lie in the power supply. It is possible that some capacitors are starting to go bad. To have it fixed will likely run you around $500 on the low end of pricing and depends on availability of parts. With most of these older TVs, unless you are comfortable fixing something like bad caps yourself, it is more economical to invest the repair fees into a new television.

Without visually inspecting the set, I cannot say for certain what is causing the issue, but it does sound like your problem is probably in the power supply. If, and ONLY, if you feel comfortable you could visually inspect the caps. But DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
