    Right-Hand Rule #1 for Magnetism
Okay, I thought I understood it in class, but these questions are simply worded confusingly for me and I can't seem to get the right answers. I'm using the method with the extended fingers and open palm.

    1. In what direction must the charged particle be moving, if it experiences an outward force in a magnetic field oriented to the right?
I put down, but now I can't decide between up or down...

    2. In what direction must the charged particle be moving, if it experiences a force to the left in a magnetic field oriented outward?
I think this one's either up or down too?

    3. What is the direction of the force acting on a charged particle moving up in a field oriented to the left?
    Is this up, or in?

    4. What is the direction of the force acting on a charged particle moving into a field oriented up?
    I think this is out?

    5. What is the orientation of the magnetic field, if a charged particle moving to the right experiences an inward force?
    I think this is up?

    6. What is the orientation of the magnetic field, if a charged particle moving to the right experiences an upward force?
    I think this is in?

I use the Flemming's left hand rule.

It will all depend on the charge of the particle, whether it's positive or negative.

    If it's positive;

    1. Correct.
    2. Correct.
    3. The particle is moving up.
    4. This is ambiguous... but I would say left.
    5. Correct.
    6. Nope, out.

Thanks, it took me a few tries but I finally got it right.
