My landlord won't give us a 3 bedroom?
I have been sharing a bedroom with my 8 year old son for a year.
I have a 16 year old daughter and we live in a 2 bedroom apartment.
My land lord rented the 3 bedroom apartment to a woman and her boyfriend with one child.

    That would be their choice.
They are NOT obligated to rent the larger property to you.

So why not find a new place to live?

Yeah that would be wonderful. But some of us can't afford to just pick up and move.
I wouldn't be on this site in the first place if it were that simple.
I am a single mother supporting 4 children... 3 living with me... on only my income.
    Thanks for your helpful answer.

Packing up and moving is a hassle,
And maybe it is our of question of unaffordable.
If you need more bedrooms then maybe look at different places in the area to rent.
Otherwise ask your landloard if he could let you no if the 3 bedroom apartment ever becomes available.
    Hope this helps

Even in HUD apartments or by income units that go by HUD standards... she told me when we moved in that she wasn't supposed to rent me this size unit and I would be next up for the 3 bedroom. Didn't happen.

Thanks for trying:). I live in a small town and no... nowhere else to rent even if I could afford it.I was supposed to BE the one to get that unit when it was available... she knows the girl she rented my apartment to. Thanks though.

You didn't mention HUD in your question. If there is more to this then you really need to talk to your local housing office. If it is just giving it to her friend, then be careful, but still report it. Sometimes these are no-win situations even when you are right, especially in a small town. If you have a social worker, you could mention it, because you aren't supposed to be sleeping with the 8 year old, but that could mean losing the apartment you have.
    Good luck.
