Dad wants to sign son off
My sons dad moved to England and his new wife doesn't want him to have any thing to do with his son. Now he wants to sign him off. I am OK with it but doesn't know where and how to start.

This is a legal question and not a question about raising children - I have asked that it be moved.

A father cannot "sign off" (abandon) his child. Whether not he and/or his "new" wife want to be involved the father has a legal obligation to support the child, no matter where the father lives.

You cannot force the father to have contact with the child, of course, but the child is still entitled to be supported by BOTH parents. If you remarry and your "new" husband wants to adopt the child, the birth father can sign his consent, ending his obligations to the child.

If, of course, for whatever reason you don't want support from the father, then don't pursue it.

There is absolutely no benefit to relinquishing all rights to the child - and it cannot be done. Without a Court Order the custodial parent makes all of the decisions.
