Can I get fired for having active Ulcerative Colitis?
I was wondering I have had Ulcerative Colitis since I was 15 years old. I work for Mcdonald's. When they hired me they never asked if I had any conditions that could or would ever effect my work. So I really don't say what I have unless it gets really bad and I can't do my job. I have been dealing with my active Ulcerative Colitis has gotten really bad I mean I have to be near a bathroom most of the time. As of today it had became really really bad, to the point where I couldn't stand on my feet without having to run to the bathroom, I was in drive-thru since 9am est. -12:30pm EST. At which my asst. manger told me to go home and don't come back without a doctor's note. So I am scared that I could get fired if I find out that I have to put in the hospital for a few months I am also 4 months pregnant too.

They can for a disability make the accomidations that are reasonalble, but you will have to do the main functions of your job. If you have to be on your feet and walking around getting drinks, picking up burgers and bagging them, THEN yes they can fire you for not being able to do your job.

If you are going to be in the hosptial for months, you can get a leave if you have worked there enough hours and for a year ( IN the US under federal act, but it is unpaid)

You will have to be able to do your job when you return

Yes I was. I just started to feel sick, like if I didn't make it to the bathroom I was going to crap myself. And yes I do live in the usa. No he just told me to clock out and go home and not to come back until I have a Doctor's note.

Then go to a doctor or ER and have them write you a note that you are fit for duty, if you are. However, unless this has happened before hisn actions are unwarranted and hasty. He could be considered in a fait labor voilation by the EEOC.
