Mini tarantulas
I don't know what they are, but they are blackish brown, small, extremely fast (only ever killed one, the rest disappeared), and make me think of tarantulas on a much smaller scale. Tonight I found one under my pillow in my blanket, and I don't know where it went when I threw the blanket. I'm trying not to freak out. I've found them in my closet and behind things on the wall. Not too often, but it's too much for me. I live in New York..
So... what does it sound like it is? Should I be afraid of it? And how do I get rid of it?
If you can answer even one of my questions, that would be great, though just trying to Google it scares me. Plus I think of swallowing it in my sleep or it crawling into bed with me and eating me alive... Thanks in advance.

I can't, they're just too fast. I barely saw it on the blanket.

Sorry, I have no clue, I have the heebie - jeebies just thinking about it. I know nothing about spiders, except to stay well enough away from them!

It's OK, thanks for trying. I'm thinking about buying something to kill them tomorrow at work--hopefully one of my co-workers could recommend me something. It's just I'm exhausted but kind of too freaked out to sleep right now. I don't mind spiders/insects in nature, but my bedroom is off limits.

Is the primary body color brown or black?
In either case, the best way to get rid of them fast are sticky traps. The big Box hardware stores sell good ones (My local Lowe's has a brand called Tomkat) but be sure to get the pasteboards rather than the trays. The pasteboards can be folded and put into corners and under the bed without having to worry about being stepped on.

It looks more like the second image in color at least. I barely saw it this time, and it's been a while since the last time. I actually know that brand and work at Lowe's. I'll look for that, thank you!

I don't know how true it is but it might be worth giving a try. I heard crab apples work very well to keep them away. Do you know if that works Cats?

Don't think so. Decaying/drying fruit emits ethylene vapors which attract flies, from fruit to house. Spiders prey on flies. Don't experiment inside the apartment, Gimme.
