First of all, it's not a good idea to piggyback your question onto someone else's. This thread is from 2007 and it makes it harder for us to find and answer your question when it's mixed in with someone else's. So I've requested that your question be moved to a thread of it's own.

Secondly, why were your rights terminated? Was it voluntary termination or did the courts take your rights away? How old is the child? When did you last have contact? Why do you want to regain custody? Are you able to prove that it's in the child's best interest to be placed with you again?

What was the grounds for terminating your rights? While the adoptive parents may be willing to let you re-adopt your own child, the courts may not. They clearly felt you were an unfit parent nine years ago - a lot is going to have to have changed in order for them to change their mind now.

Your only option to make this legal is to go through the courts. And as I said, it's up to them to decide if it actually is in the child's best interests.

I don't know what happened exactly that was grounds for neglect, but they do not look upon that lightly. What was it that you weren't "following through" on?

Again, it goes back to what the courts will allow. Clearly, you were not caring for the child properly nine years ago. I don't know how likely it is that you're going to be given a second chance.
