I have a sears craftsman snow thrower with elctric start - but cannot get it started. (model 536.881651). Purchased about 3 years ago - but never needed to start before. It sounds like it wants to start - but won't 'catch' when I release the starter button. Directions indicate to push in the safety key - I do not have a key (never did... ) but it appears the place where the key goes is pushed in. any ideas?

    Hi,
Since you do not have the key, I would check for fire(ignition) because that is probably what is affected. That part #1501214 is owed to you since it should have been yours upon purchase.
The item #117 contains the jets and should be cleaned if ignition exists. This machine has a Murray part number, but is likely a Snapper because of the age and the fact that Briggs owns them both.
    Peace,
    Clarke

It sounds like it could be a dead man switch. If you can't find a key for it, I would suggest creating a jump wire, so the engine thinks you have a key.
