I don't want to remain friends
I have this friend who I met some time ago and we've been spending a lot of time together. However she is not someone who I would want for "friends forever" I would love to be with her. However we have had conversations where she has said that she sees me as someone who can be her friend forever, she usually brings it up and I know it seems like an open and shut case but she acts different when drinking and I'm not allowed to talk about other girls around her. I know it sounds immature but if she started to date someone I wouldn't be able to be around her and honestly pretty sick of being labeled "the friend" its like you're such a good friend you're branded with this undateable label. I can't accept no I always have and it does not get me anywhere, there is potential I just don't know how to tap it. I'm not concerned about ruining the friendship, I have a lot of friends and if she dated someone else she is as good as gone anyway. So what do I have to lose?

You really have answered your own question...
What do you have to lose?
Nothing.
Pull away from the friendship, you can still remain on good terms, but not as the best friends label.
I have two friends I have known since I was 12... I have made and lost what I thought were good friends through out the years.. friendships come and go,very few remain a constant through out your whole life.

Well before it got to that point I would like to shed the "friendship" label first and see if I can succeed there

As I said, pull away from her, don't be available when she calls, ease out of the friendship...
Does she have other friends?
And if I could ask, what ages are you both.
It makes answering the question easier for others posters too.

29!
I'm changing my whole view on this.
You're a grown woman, and she a hanger on... walk away, you don't owe her anything, your not responsible for her happiness,or her emotional well being.
She's a big girl,she'll live.
Just cut her out.

I've been friends with this girl I really like for nearly 5 months. I finally told her last night how I feel about her (wanting more than friendship) and it didn't go so well. She claims, I'm great, attractive, a good dad, fun, good morals, and a great friend, but at this time she respects me too...
