Leaky Delta Shower.new cartridge does not fix it.
I have a Delta Monitor 1400 series shower and I can't get it to stop leaking. I have replaced the cartridge (after flushing the system out), but shower head still drips constantly (@3-4 drips per second)... anyone have any ideas on what to do next?
    Thanks

Did you grease the new cartridge before you installed it. Plumbers grease or silcone jel is called for.

I did not use any grease because the people at Delta specifically told me not to use any type of lube or grease... Do you think that would make a difference in the leaking?
    Thanks

Did you also replace then seats and springs? When you flushed the system did you do it while the valve was open with the seats and springs and cartridge removed? Let me know, tom

How big is your shower head ? Is it one of those "rain shower heads" ?

New seats and springs were included in the new cartridge assembly.
I flushed system with cartridge removed...
When you say to use Silicon Gel, do you mean a caulking-type silicone (that will harden)? Where would I apply it... I mean to which parts of the cartridge?
Note: Delta also told me to stretch the new springs a bit, but that made no difference. They also told me to have the water co. check make sure that the pressure is not too high... and they measured the water pressure at 60psi (Delta recommended between 60-80psi). Now they are saying that the entire valve should be replaced...
Meanwhile the leak is getting faster and I am going crazy trying to figure it out!

Sorry Milo- The shower head is about 2 1/2" in diameter and is nothing fancy...

    UPDATE: I FIXED IT!!!
On a hunch, I took the cartridge back out and noticed a fair amount of calcium deposit inside the valve. I sprayed some CLR on it and used a screwdriver to gently scrape away the deposits... then flushed it again and VIOLA! No more dripping... maybe I'll get some sleep tonight!

Thank fro the update, and to answer your question no caulking-type silicone, silcone gel to use for lubricating the O rings but now you don't need any thing, Good luck.
