    Replacing Delta shower cartridge
I have a shower with a Delta single knob that you turn to the left to make the water go from cold to hot. Only one knob. This is a stand up shower, no tub. I don't know the Delta model #. It was dripping constantly so I called a plumber and he came and changed out the cartridge. Now, I don't have hot water. It is backwards. Turn to the left and the water is cold, turn to the right (which is barely on) and you get hot water. I called them to come back and they said they must have put the cartridge in upside down. Anyway, my husband met the plumber and they said that the cartridge was installed correctly but the hot and cold water supply must be reversed and you would have to go in to the wall to fix this. He said on the previous cartridge that the hole for the hot and cold water supply were the same size, so previously they could flip the cartridge upside down and it would work. But, on the new cartridge (for scald guard) the hot and cold holes are not the same size and they can't flip it upside down.

It sounded kind of hinky to me. I cut the water off at the street and removed the outer escucheon and rotated the stemp 180 degrees but that just made it colder all the time. No hot water at all.

Is what this plumber is telling me true? Do I have to either find an old cartridge with no scaldguard change to the holes or do I have to go into the wall? I can't live with either a lukewarm shower or a hot shower with almost no water. Thanks for any help!

I don't have a camera but I'll borrow one. One problem is my husband and I could not get the pin out that held the cartridge in place to remove the cartridge. We tried pulling on it and hammering gently from below. We can't tell if it is threaded or not but the design on the top is unusual to me. Not much plumbing experience between us at all.

    It sounds funny to me.
Where did you get the cartridge from, did you buy it yourself or replaced by the plumber? I suggest to call the plumber to come back to fix it for you because he hasn't completed his job he is responsible for it.
Call Delta technical support they are very helpful and explain your problem to them if there is really deferent between the old cartridge and the new cartridge the will send a new one for free. Please try to post some picture we will see if can help, good luck.
