Does it drip out of the spout end or back at the tub? Was it a slip on or threaded?

If by drips you mean that water drips out of the end of the spout, that's a fault of the tub valve, not the spout. Sounds like you need to replace washers.

It drips out the end of the spout... after the shower button drops but it does stop after a few minutes... so I guess that's OK.

    I have to agree Kgmartin...

If the drip stops shortly after the diverter knob drops then that is normal. Here, the shower pipe needs to drain down. Sometimes air displaces the water quickly and in other tub/shower valves it takes time. Sounds O.K. to me!

    Good news!

Tub Spout Leaks at diverter [ 1 Answers ]

I replaced my tub spout which was leaking water when the shower diverter was lifted. The new one leaks just as much. I thought maybe there isn't enough water pressure to seal the diverter. I have another shower with the same spout and it doesn't leak. Could there be a problem somewhere else?
