I was wondering how I go about installing a toilet flange in a basement with concrete floors? Is there a process that I should be following? Any assistance is appreciated.

First of all you're going to hafta tell me what flange you wish to use. See a selection at;

The pipe coming out of the floor is a 4" pvc, so i think i am comfortable with using a 4" flange, the one at the top of this link. Do I need to build up the floor or will there be sufficient room under the toilet to keep it flush to the concrete?

Your bowl is elevated about a inch so it should clear with no problem. Don't forget to prime before you glue. Good luck, Tom

Hi Newbiedad...

In the best case, you want to install the tile/mortar first and then install the closet flange.

If the contractor wrapped the PVC pipe with a foam wrap that can be pulled from around the pipe then you will need to pull that wrap and install a regular 4" closet flange.

If the contractor did NOT wrap the pipe and concrete is up tight to the 4" PVC pipe then you will need to install a 4" twist and set (or similar) closet flange... see images.
